Steering wheel

On this Eid, I received quite a lot of money. From it, I bought a steering wheel for playing drving games on the PC.
Its got sequential gear shift and a pair of foot pedals for accelerator and brake. It also has a lot of buttons on the wheel itself. And its compatible with Sony PlayStation 1, 2 and 3 as well as any computer with Microsoft Windows XP or Vista and is Plug 'n Play. All of which makes it awesome.

Playing with it is a little harder but a lot more fun too!

Hello, all.

Posting after a long time. I have been busy doing other stuff on the PC so didn't get much time to post here. And there isn't much to post about either. Except for this:

Its an electric toothbrush. Father went to Dubai on a business trip and brought this and since no one else liked it, I got to have it!
It may not look like much, but it makes toothbrushing very easy and effortless. Although, it does give the jaw a good shake while doing so.

In other news, a cousin passed away yesterday. :'(
She had an ailment whose name I forgot, but it was something serious.
May Allah give her forgiveness and ease her life in the Hereafter.

I have stopped piracy since its not allowed in Islam (according to several people including an Alama). Although I am not completely satisfied with their saying since they didn't cover all aspects but I guess its better to not do it. Papers are coming in about 3 weeks now. So, its mostly sitting at home, studying or doing something on the PC or talking to friends over SMS (sometimes also Facebook).

I re-created my Second Life account. Actually, created a new one, again.
Have made a new, simpler, easier to make and manage design for my website (which has been neglected for quite some time now). It will be getting some additional features (actually just more space and mySQL) since my original hosting plan will be expiring soon and the old package has been abandoned by the hosting company to introduce different ones (all if which are more expensive).

Hoping to do good in papers (although not preparing that well) and get internship somewhere, hopefully, Fergusons (PWC) or Ford Rhodes (Ernest & Young). Or maybe in KPMG or Delloits (wrong spelling?).

The new PC is going along very well, thanks to Allah. Hoping it shall pass the test of time (and my brother and my abusive use) and the continuous load-shedding (I wish I had a UPS for the PC).

My mobile received two scratches on its battery cover, thanks to the keys I put in the same pocket as the mobile. Oh, well, I am not planning to resell it anyway. Although I could do with one with Wi-Fi, since the wireless router really helps in using internet over mobile devices, not that its required but its better to have it than not have it.

May Allah bring happiness to everyone's life.

Last Sunday (which may appear to be an odd day for the purpose), my school/college/university life ended. And, InshaAllah, I shall be starting my internship in about 2 months from now.
Papers are coming in 1 month and I am not studying as much as I should at this point.

New computer system upgrade

A TV just got added to the new computer, its a Sony Bravia KLV series 32" LCD TV.
Now I've got one HDMI display (the TV) and one serial display (the old Philips 17" monitor).
With the ATI HD 4870, which supports two monitors at once, I can use these two displays as dual monitors.
Main things on the TV, toolbars, sidebar gadgets and small applications on the monitor.
Games display better in the TV too.

Its really great!

However yesterday went in worry about a friend. So all happiness of this upgrade was lost.
Please everyone pray for this friend of mine.

So, I've been study much today, which means 2-3 hours. A guest (Vicky) came today so some time was spent with him.
Now hoping to finish ISA 315 tonight and do some standards tomorrow in school.
I wish I pass it with good marks.

Sir Masood told about a debate competition coming up. I am thinking of joining the contestants, relive the thrills I experienced ages ago (5th and 6th class in Ibn-e-sina college, Lahore). Lets see what becomes of it.

New developments are underway that will make my website finally have some content.

Most of it may not interest anyone but my friend circle but stuff for the general public will come too, after a while.

So far, my studies prevent me to do much work on the site, so the progress is slow. But it is there, even if most people can't see it yet.

But one visible advancement is the 3D pages. The code of the site was changed last weekend. So its faster and smaller now. :D

 Next up is the blog integration.

Ok. I've tried a lot and I do not have time to sit on the PC just for blogging. There are more important things to do on it. Like making websites, playing games, making IIPQ [http://www.shahrukhmalik.com/iipq].

However, I do get a lot of idle time during the day, in most of which I can't use PC. Enter mobile blogging. Using Zong's unlimited data plan, I can do almost everything on the internet that I can do over PC. So I shall be uploading videos and photos, maybe even voice, and writing blog from mobile. The main way to access this blog might not be from blogger, but from my own website [http://www.shahrukhmalik.com].

But all that will be decided at a later date. Thats it for now.

The American and the Pakistani

A Pakistani and an American are seated next to each other on a flight from Los Angeles to New York. The American wants to play a game. Pakistani is tired and just wants to take a nap, so he politely declines and rolls over to the window to catch a few winks.

A Spanish teacher was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.

* Powerful computers beep whenever you press a key or whenever the screen changes. Some computers also slow down the output on the screen so that it doesn't go faster than you can read. The really advanced ones also emulate the sound of a dot-matrix printer as the characters come across the screen.
* All computer panels have thousands of volts and flash pots just underneath the surface. Malfunctions are indicated by a bright flash, a puff of smoke, a shower of sparks, and an explosion that forces you backward.
* People typing away on a computer will turn it off without saving the data.
* A hacker can get into the most sensitive computer in the world before intermission and guess the secret password in two tries.
* Any PERMISSION DENIED has an override function.
* Complex calculations and loading of huge amounts of data will be accomplished in under three seconds. In the movies, modems transmit data at two gigabytes per second.

Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.

The little girl said, “When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah”.

The teacher asked, “What if Jonah went to hell?”

The little girl replied, “Then you ask him”.

A philosophy professor stood before his class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, about 2”in diameter. He then asked the students if the jar was full? They agreed that it was.

So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He then asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous – yes.

The professor then produced two cans of Pepsi from under the table and proceeded to pour their entire contents into the jar – effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

“Now,” said the professor, as the laughter subsided,”I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The rocks are the important things – your family, your partner, your health, your children—things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else. The small stuff.”

“If you put the sand into the jar first,” he continued “There is no room for the pebbles or the rocks.”

“The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal. Take care of the rocks first—the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.”

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Pepsi represented.

The professor smiled. “I’m glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for some Pepsi.”
